The only BMX event that's left in Orlando is the Park Finals. The following twelve riders made it to the finals and it looks like it will be a tough battle between championship leaders Daniel Dhers (qualified in first) and Mike Spinner (qualified in second). With the wedding stress behind him Ryan Nyquist is picking up steam. He had just won the Dirt title of the year and then qualified third in park. Check out the AB pics.

Veteran BMX athlete Ryan Nyquist claimed his first Dew Cup title with a fifth-place finish in the BMX dirt finals Saturday at the PlayStation Pro at Amway Arena. Veteran rider Nyquist, 28, of Greenville, N.C., entered the contest with a 50 point lead over Australia’s Cameron White in the Dew Cup standings. Nyquist fell during his first run and then executed two solid, cautious runs to finish with an 87.09 score. White fell midway through his first and third runs, scoring 86.59 overall. He placed sixth in the event and second in Dew Cup standings.

“I was definitely conservative,” a teary-eyed Nyquist said. “I wanted to get a first good run and I crashed. And at that point there were no throw-away runs... (Winning the Dew Cup is) one of the biggest accomplishments I’ve had so far, as far as winning a whole complete series, and winning the title.”

WillemII Den Bosch in the Netherlands is a small club where I used to go to see concerts of 7 Seconds, Gang Green, Suicidal Tendencies, Negazione etc and this was the first time in a long time I was in that place and it didn't change, they only added a bar on the side but that's about it. I invited the Paul's Boutique team again and of course we had trouble to get in cause the guestlist was gone or didn't arrive but after some smooth talking and help of Berry (Eastpak Jos' Assistant) we managed to get in. (Pim/Riccardo/Dennis/Michael & Elise and me). 

About 3 weeks ago there was a small jam/contest in our local skatepark in Siegen, a not so big city close to Cologne. It was the beginning of October so the weather wasn't very good but anyway, besides a small shower which took only bout 15 minutes the weather stayed good. The riders came from all over North Rhein Westphalia, the Cologne guys, some riders from the Bielefeld area, Timm Wiegmann from Oldenburg, Fischi from Leipzig and of course the Siegen locals were there!

The Dirt field is so deep in Orlando that it's hard to make the finals. If you look at the names on the list that did not make it, you know what I'm talking about. Pressure is on at these things and sticking your tricks is what counts. Still, when you go on "save mode", you're not going to make it because the next guy might just bump you out of the top 12. Ryan Guettler is on top of things. He has been rolling the dice and it worked out in prelims scoring more than three solid points over second place finisher Dennis Enarson. Finals are on Saturday so let's see who of the 12 riders can claim it in Orlando. It's anyone's game.

ORLANDO, Fla. – Jamie Bestwick claimed his third straight Dew Cup title by placing second in Friday’s BMX vert finals at the PlayStation Pro at Amway Arena. Bestwick, 36, made a remarkable comeback after an unfortunate first run. On his initial drop-in, the crank arm of his pedal fell off his bike, thrusting him into the air as his bike fell down the ramp. Bestwick ricocheted off the ramp and slid down to the flat bottom.

"My crank snapped on my first run so I needed a huge second run to win the Cup,” Bestwick said. “Don't think it was planned that way for the dramatic. There was a lot of pressure going into the final run.”

Bestwick scored a 92.67 on his second run which moved him from last to second. Chad Kagy of Gilroy, Calif. won the event with a 92.67.

Hi, this is just a quick update from Denver and California. First of all Stephen would like to say how humbled he is by Shirley and Lyndsey's gesture at Ross's funeral that donations should go to the Family Fund. How Ross's family could actually think of Stephen at the worst time in their lives is a tribute to them and to Ross and neither Stephen or any member of the our Family can express our gratitude for their support at such a sad time.
