Nyquist, 28, of Greenville, N.C., entered the contest with a 50 point lead over Australia’s
Cameron White in the Dew Cup standings. Nyquist fell during his first run and then executed two solid, cautious runs to finish with an 87.09 score. White fell midway through his first and third runs, scoring 86.59 overall. He placed sixth in the event and second in Dew Cup standings.
“I was definitely conservative,” a teary-eyed
Nyquist said.
“I wanted to get a first good run and I crashed. And at that point there were no throw-away runs... (Winning the Dew Cup is) one of the biggest accomplishments I’ve had so far, as far as winning a whole complete series, and winning the title.” Australia’s
