What parts do you change most often?
Kai Sakakibara: Probably my tyres. New tyres always make my bike look fresh, and ensure that I have got solid grip out of the gate and around the corners.
Who are some of the people who hook you up with parts when you need them?
Kai Sakakibara: I have ridden for Redline Australia for 8 years now, and they have always been great in getting me the bits and pieces that I have needed for my bike. Michram Industries supplies my chainrings, and miscellaneous parts are always supported by Blackman Bicycles in Sydney!Do you care about the looks of your bike?
Kai Sakakibara: Yes and no. I love to keep my bike clean and looking fresh, but have never been too fussed about using certain colours or parts. I'm always more so focused on building a bike that will get me around the track as fast as possible!
Does she have to be clean at all times before you hit the track?
Kai Sakakibara: Definitely. Bike cleaning and maintenance forms a significant part of my week. It's also when I'm cleaning and servicing my bike that I would find problems to fix before getting on the track.
What tire pressure do you run?
Kai Sakakibara: 85psi
When it gets technical, who helps out with your bike?
Kai Sakakibara: My Dad has taught me pretty much everything to do with my bike maintenance, so if help is needed he's the man that I talk to.
Any special reason for the colour combination of your bike?
Kai Sakakibara: I love the simple silver look of the 2016 Redline Flight Carbon's. I like to keep things tidy, but I added the red hubs just for some extra shiny colour!
Does weight matter much to you?
Kai Sakakibara: I have never been too fussed about choosing parts to save weight. Redline and the components that come with it have always been light enough as is, so it's always just been about keeping it running good rather than looking to save more weight.
