The 2010 UCI BMX World Championships will be held from 29 July - 1 August in Pietermaritzburg, the second largest city in the KwaZulu-Natal Province, and its administrative capital. Conveniently situated between Durban and Johannesburg, it is set amidst the forested hills and rolling countryside of the Natal-Midlands and is one of the best-preserved Victorian cities in the world. Pietermaritzburg, which is about a one hour’s drive from our fly-in port, Durban, has hosted many National BMX Championships in the past.
Apart from these competitions, Real Event Management, the organisers of the event (in conjunction with UCI), has structured a whole week of activity leading up to the World Championship competitions so that the local participants, officials and spectators
can all benefit out of the event being awarded to the country by the UCI. Apart from the competitions taking place over the time period, the excellent riding conditions, weather and accommodation and other facilities on offer in the Pietermaritzburg region offers teams and riders from around the world the opportunity to come to South Africa ahead of time and to train and prepare for the season ahead.
