Travis Pastrana, global icon and co-creator of Nitro World Games, says, “At last, Nitro World Games is back and primed to take the big air of action sports to another level. With the tremendous support of Tourism Events Queensland and the Brisbane Economic Development Agency, we have the opportunity to put on the biggest action sports event anywhere on the globe, in front of some of the most passionate fans in the world. After a two-year hold, I know that athletes can’t wait to debut the insane tricks that they will need in order to have a shot at the podium. It’s going to be a wild ride at Suncorp Stadium this October.”
Top contenders to hoist Nitro World Games championship hardware include Sunshine Coast’s own Ryan “R-Willy” Williams, a dual threat in both BMX Best Trick and Scooter Best Trick. Not only does Williams already have four Nitro World Games first place trophies – two from each discipline – on his mantle, Pastrana considers Williams, “Hands down, the best action sports athlete alive today.” Similar to Williams, Gold Coast Olympic hero Logan Martin excels in multiple disciplines thanks to his considerable technical skill, strong work ethic and focused discipline. Widely regarded as one of the most dominant Park riders today, now Martin is looking for his first Nitro World Games Triple Hit victory.

Action sports leaders Nitro Circus are producing Nitro World Games in partnership with the Queensland Government through Tourism and Events Queensland alongside Brisbane City Council’s Brisbane Economic Development Agency. Together, this collaboration will also stage a full calendar of preview exhibitions in the run-up to the Nitro World Games championship weekend, both in Brisbane as well as locations across Queensland and in Sydney. These will include athlete clinics, autograph signings, school visits and more, all to engage fans, educate area residents on these exciting disciplines and introduce young enthusiasts to action sports. More details on these community events will be announced soon.
Joe Carr, CEO of Thrill One Sports & Entertainment – Nitro World Games’ parent company – says, “We are very excited to bring the biggest action sports event in the world to Brisbane, a marquee host city for premier sport. The past two years have undoubtedly been challenging ones for live sport but now, with the best athletes set to showcase their elite skills in front of a global audience, the wait will have been worth it. To have this opportunity is possible thanks to the great support of our partners Tourism Events Queensland and the Brisbane Economic Development Agency, who have shown their vision and commitment every step of the way.”
Brisbane Lord Mayor Adrian Schrinner says, “Securing the Nitro World Games for Brisbane this October is a massive win for fans and the city’s economy,” Cr Schrinner said. “As the first place outside the USA to host this major event, adrenaline-seeking fans from across Australia will get to see local Queensland heroes Ryan Williams and Logan Martin compete in front of a home crowd, with an amazing atmosphere expected at Suncorp Stadium. “With tens of thousands of spectators anticipated over two days, and 70 competitors from five continents coming to Brisbane to compete, our local hotels, restaurants and retailers are set to benefit from a $20 million economic injection.”
