In The Bin Short Film Festival is highly regarded within the Australian Film Industry as being a festival that receives films of a very high quality and as being a festival that is professional and supportive of the Australian film industry. The Currumbin festival has developed a reputation in the last seven years as being a festival at which film makers have the opportunity to win prize money and have hard work compete for selection to tour Australia.
In 2008, the festival is carried out over four nights catering for everybody from the 13th – 20th of September. The main event ‘In The Bin Short Film Festival’ is held on the opening Saturday. The festival is a competition where there is prize money for the Best Short Film, The Best Documentary and The Best Animation. The festival also includes Cart-Orts family film festival, School Shorts that will screen short films that were made by students that participate in the In The Bin Education Program and then there is Board Shorts which is Australia’s premier open sport category short.
This year In The Bin is expanding the Boardshorts Film Festival, to which it will open on its own night at the Currumbin Surf Club on Wednesday the 17th of September. In The Bin Board Shorts Film Festival, is a smorgasbord of surf, ski, skate, bike, climb, jump! anything goes as long as it is entertaining as long as its sports related!
‘In the Bin’ short film festival is now calling for entries for the 2008 event, including entries for the Boarshorts Film Night! Whether a novice first time film maker or a seasoned professional there is a category for all. Film makers screening fees will be paid to selected films.
