The aim of the project is to link in with the Olympic Velopark that will be inherited by the Lee Valley Regional Park to allow young people the opportunity to become involved with cycling in the Capital. The project is being delivered with the support of the Greater London Authority, British Cycling and the five Olympic host boroughs Greenwich, Hackney, Newham, Tower Hamlets and Waltham Forest.Joe McTague, Project Manager at Access Sport – the charity organising the events – said that these events will provide invaluable publicity for the clubs and the work that Access Sport is doing in deprived areas of London.
“The BMX Roadshow will act as a launch pad for the exciting work we will do with the BMX clubs in 2012. The five new clubs have recently established a London BMX Forum and this Roadshow will mark the beginning of a new BMX time-trial race series, something that has never been seen before. The support of Chain Reaction Cycles will provide invaluable publicity for the clubs, helping them to attract new members and develop into sustainable community clubs.” To mark the half-way point of the project and showcase the fantastic new clubs in East London, the BMX Roadshow will be visiting each borough on the following dates:• Monday 14th February – Newham BMX Club
• Tuesday 15th February – ELBO : Waltham Forest
• Wednesday 16th February – Hackney BMX
• Thursday 17th February – Tower Hamlets BMX
• Friday 18th February – Greenwich BMX
