competitions and community engagement sessions across the country. His work has helped grow grassroots BMX and inspire generations of young riders.
“To be recognised in the Hall of Fame is incredibly humbling,” said Shaun. “BMX has been a part of my life for over 43 years. I never set out to achieve awards, I just wanted to ride and share that passion with others. Seeing young riders grow in confidence and ability has always been the greatest reward.”
Over the decades, Shaun has worn many helmets, rider, mentor, coordinator, judge, coach, and presenter, always with a focus on inclusivity and community impact. Through Freestyle Now, he has championed positive messaging at schools, encouraged safe riding practices, and fostered local skatepark scenes across hundreds of regional towns to major cities.
The Australian BMX Hall of Fame celebrates individuals who have made a significant and lasting contribution to BMX in Australia. Shaun joins an elite group of riders and industry pioneers whose influence has shaped the culture and legacy of the sport.
With his upcoming Hall of Fame Induction, Shaun remains committed to the future of BMX. Freestyle Now, founded in 1986, continues to engage with councils, schools, and event organisers, providing performance-based inspiration and skill-building sessions for youth and community groups.
“BMX gave me freedom, purpose and direction as a kid,” added Shaun. “If I can help pass that on to the next generation, then I know I’m still doing what I was meant to do.”
