Day one of the BMX Masters 2011 in Cologne, Germany is over and like you can imagine, it was amazing! The weather forecast hold up, the sun was out all day and you will see some nice sunburns tomorrow. The Amateur Park Contest was not as packed as the years before. The German amateur riders had to qualify for the Park contest. 72 riders rode the Amateur Park contest and we had to learn that the gap between the Pros and Amateur riders is getting smaller every year.
Declan Brooks (UK) qualified with some nice Tricks with the first place for the finals on Sunday morning.
Rene Boener (GER) and
Felix Prangenberg (GER), just 13 years old, placed second and third.
Flatland was the kick off for the Pro Contets. The atmosphere was already intense! We are really looking forward to the finals on Saturday. The crowd pushed the riders to the limit. The BMX Masters are always good for a little surprise, this year
Daniel Dhers entered the Pro Flatland qualification. He obviously enjoyed the 2.5 minutes of riding on flat ground.
Dominik Nekolny (CZ) showed some clean and super consistent runs and placed first for the finals on Saturday.
Matthias Dandois (FRA) placed second and the third place went to
Moto Sasaki (JP).
The Spine-Ramp qualifiers were next up and the heavy hitters were all on deck.
Daniel Dhers (VEN) showed his classical and patented Dehrs-Style. Dhers placed first followed by
Brett Banasiewicz (USA) and
Ondra Slez (CZ). The Spine-Ramp finals will be great tomorrow. We will definitely see some more hard and wild runs!

The Rail Jam was a first timer for the BMX Masters. It was an open session for everyone and the street riders lay down some hard grinds.
Pierre Hinze from Hamburg, Germany took the win with tricks like regular and opposite hangover grinds as well as opposite and regular over icepickgrinds. With this tricks he scored the 500 Euros prize money and jumped into the aftershow party!
The Pro qualifications at the Dirt Jumps were the last contest for the day. The riders had to drop down a big step down and afterwards they fired out amazing tricks on the two big jumps.
Brett Banasiewicz (USA) placed first and pulled a clean cashroll and a 720 flat spin.
Pat Casey (USA) surprised with his backflip decade and
James Foster (USA) placed third with a wild double backflip. The Dirt finals will be the big highlight on Saturday night.
