Professional BMXer/Musician/Actor Rick Thorne has created the ultimate action sports and music tour called, "Grindz And Rhymez", an event that is second to none and ultimatley one of a kind. Monster Energy and Famous Stars And Straps have teamed up with Thorne as sponsors, the tour is scheduled for 31 skatepark stops across the nation. Featuring Thorne's band Good Guys In Black, professional bmx and skateboard demonstrations, and a jam style contest for the locals in both bmx and skate.
Rick Thorne aka The Biker In Black, has put in his time touring the world for the last 25 years in action sports and music doing exhibitions, contests and events. It was time to take all his experiences and create his own tour,
"I feel that action sports and music are so closely tied together", says
Thorne,
"I wanted to create an event that could give kids a chance to see live music on the street course to ride to, with a featured pro demo and provide them with a chance to get sponsored all at one time.
Showcasing music and action sports as an equal."
Thorne does has his work cut out for him, not only creating and running the tour, he will be performing in the pro bmx/skate demo with the Famous Stars And Straps Team, hosting the event, singing in his band Good Guys In Black, and helping judge the contests.
"Monster Energy and Famous Stars And Straps are two awesome teams to be a part of and with them behind me I could not make the tour possible. The main purpose of this tour is to help kids believe in themselves, that they can do whatever it is they set out to do, it's main mission is to motivate." Each winner from bmx and skate will win product sponsorship from both Monster Energy and Famous Stars And Straps. The tour is starting in Los Angeles, California and ending in Lakewood, New Jersey. The tour dates are February 28th-April 10th, with 31 skateparks stops and 5 days in Austin, Texas for the music festival, SXSW (South By South West), which Good Guys In Black will perform at as well.
