Some teams rode together, others had a BMX specialist in the pool to score some good points on that side. The action could be watched on the big screen. Even Klaas van den Bos did a few wheelies in the pool while Frits van den Linden was his partner at the pool table. Kenneth Tancre had teamed up with his dad. Kenneth rocked the pool and did some good runs showing he's got the power and the skills. Pim Scheers and Arjan Ellens both rode the pool at the same time in the hopes of getting double points. Pim van den Bos and Joeri Faassen represented Veldhoven and it was good seeing both of them riding their bikes. The pool lends itself for multiple lines around the far end and has a bank to wall on one side. Lip tricks were done as well but it was clear that this wasn't a serious gig, fun prevailed.
After two runs for each team the freshly cover 040BMXPARK pool table was the center of attention. 11 teams signed up in total and the first team was dropped before it even began. The €5 entry per person were doubled and the winning team would take all. "fl 240,= gulden!" as Joeri reminded everyone. Half of the people present had not even handled guilders in their lives but the heat was on with € 110,= cash as first prize.
From the start it was clear that there was one pool shark in the building. It was Tobias van der Linden's team mate. His dad 'hired him for the night' to play everyone off the table. It worked. Unfortunately Tobias' riding wasn't up to par with Kenneth Tancre's riding so the six year old missed out on the cash. Bart and Kenneth Tancre got second in pool and it's fair to say that Kenneth's riding in the pool was up there. The 2014 Kings Of Pool trophies went to Belgium.
When the focus was on the pool table, MOOON had set up their equipment in the pool to play a live set. It was the first time Timo van Lierop, Gijs and Tom de Jong played in a BMX pool and it was a good way to wrap up a fun night. Another fun gig in the pocket. What's next?
