ALEX LANDEROS FLIPS HIS WAY TO THE TOP AT THE FIRST GATORADE FREE FLOW BMX DIRT FINAL

Alex Landeros, 20, won the Gatorade Free Flow Tour BMX dirt finals tonight at EnergySolutions Arena. The 2010 season marked the debut of BMX dirt on the Gatorade Free Flow Tour, and as the first-ever BMX dirt champion, Landeros earns a spot at the Dew Tour Championships in Las Vegas this October. Taking on the largest dirt jumps of his career, Landeros, of Wheaton, Ill., topped the podium with a run that included a double whip,

suicide no-hander, and a flip whip to late superman, earning him the winning score of 93.25. Coming in second was Jason Lopez, 18 of Richmond, Calif. with a 91.75, while 17-year-old Daniel Sandoval of Corona, Calif. rounded out the podium in third with a 91.75. The tie for second between Lopez and Sandoval was decided based on the competitors' second highest run score.

"I was so psyched when they added dirt to the Gatorade Free Flow Tour, so when I won in Ohio I knew I wanted to win at the Finals," Landeros said. "It was cool having the pros out here supporting us today; I can't wait to ride against them in Vegas."

The 2010 Gatorade Free Flow Tour included a total of 30 skateboarding competitions (seven skate vert and 23 skate park) and 17 BMX contests (three BMX dirt and 14 BMX park) at 30 parks across the United States. Encompassing the "Flow to Pro" theme that is the cornerstone of the Gatorade Free Flow Tour, the two overall skate champions and the two BMX champions will earn a spot to compete against the pros at the final stop of the 2010 Dew Tour season, October 14-17 at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas.
