the speed. How important was the gate pick at the race in Denmark?
Ivo: 12th time was really not too bad. I think top 5 was also possible but how important the gate pick was, lane 1 was narrow. The best places were 2.3.4. I think not too far on the outside, so you had to be in the top 2 in previous races for a good gate pick
How hard is it to go from a normal BMX track to a Supercross track with that giant starting hill and the big jumps?
Ivo: The big jumps are not the problem, the speed is much higher because of the giant hill. That's what makes SX so different, it’s another level of bmx racing. You like it, or not. And I love it
It is risky to have these events outdoors. It rained a bit during the week and when the racing was going on, the wind picked up. Did the weather conditions have anything to do with the way you approached the race?
Ivo: Actually on race day the weather was great for me. It was not too hot, the wind was almost gone and the track had dried up from the rain earlier that week.
Do you think it's an advantage to have so many Dutch riders present at a race like the Supercross?
Ivo: No I don’t think so. It’s the same as all the Euro rounds, at least not for me. Maybe for the other riders
Did you know who was behind you in the finals when you were leading?
Ivo: Haha yes I know all 7 other finalists. But no, I didn’t know who was in second, only in the last corner I saw some Orange on the inside (Martijn scherpen #15)
Which supercross race is up next for you?
Ivo: I will be in stock at all the other SX races, so the next one will be Pietermarisburg South Africa, 23th of August. After the worlds. And yes I’m looking forward to it.
