Long time International BMXer, Laëtitia Le Corguillé has announced her retirement from BMX Racing and won't get a chance to participate to her third Olympic games... and retires from the sport... Laëtitia suffered a serious foot injury, Sunday at the UCI BMX Supercross World Cup in Manchester, UK while making a run at her third Olympics and has ended what has been one of the longest and most successful Elite Women's BMX careers in the sport.
In her own words "I took a while to give news of my ankle because yesterday afternoon was hard to take ... after all, I have a broken calcaneus (heel bone): 2 large fracture above. This is very bad news because even if all goes well, my foot must remain immobilized for 3 months without contact of the heel on the floor ... three months on crutches. It is the end of season for me. I hoped also to finish my career on a high note at the Olympic Games (even if the qualification was not certain yet ). This will not be the case. So you can understand that this injury also announces
the end of my career. I took great pleasure in trying to return to the best in the world, I started to get closer but it is the law of sport and bmx. Thank you to the people who supported me. Thank you to the Team France staff , the federation, the Brittany Sport dept., Flo and my little Juliette, my family, R'Vélo Hervé Masson, Laurent Guillon , company race, bemor, the clubs of Saint-brieuc and Saint-Etienne, Romain Riccardi, to my friends who will recognize themselves."
