Everything the other riders had said about the vibe at a South American World Cup is true! The crowd at Santiago del Estero were amazing, the track very fast and wide open making for great racing and pasing. After settling in having a bit of a sight see around the city I headed off to a local children’s hospital to give out lots of activity and colouring in books and pencils along with a DK bike. The kids were happy with the diversion in their day and I was truly humbled by their courage and smiles when dealing with so many illnesses and injuries.
Being ranked in the top eight certainly has its advantages with not having to go through the three qualification motos and straight into the time trial Superfinal. I settled in and concentrated on doing well in the Time Trial and was happy to come away with second place behind
Mariana Pajon.

Day two racing, I progressed through the motos into the semi final. Our semifinal could well have been a World Champs final with the likes of
Mariana Pajon, Steffie Hernandez, Simone Christensen, Brooke Crain. Into the finals I drew an outside lane and had a slightly bad gate. All week I was feeling tired and a little off. My reaction was slower than normal and I got cut off down the ramp and spat back to 7th. Not happy with the result but every racer has their good days and their bad.
Next race is the final World Cup for the year in Chula Vista California at the end of September. I am pleased to say I am still holding on to the World Cup series leader plate with one World Cup to go!
