The happening brought BMX collectors together from Germany, Belgium and The Netherlands. The mix of bikes was all over the place. Survivors, show models, '70s - '80s - '90s models, Racing, Freestyle, department store completes, a sidehack, and cruisers. Everyone's got a different BMX history and feeling about BMX brands. The varity of bikes present gave everyone something to enjoy. From the '76 (?) AMF Avenger 250MX to the E.M.L. sidehack, the BMX RAFTY, the unique Revenger, Skyway Streetbeat, CPX100, as well as the mint Robinson, Torkers, MCS Spider, JMC and Patterson.
The HAWK racer with Answer Fork was on display as well as a Vector race complete and VDC cruiser. A Redline MKII could be seen inside Marcel's "man cave" where he has tons of old bicycle parts available. Worth a phone call or visit if you can.
We continued bringing up stories from back in the day with Gerrit Does, Jan van den Dungen, George Tan, Ans Vereijken, Jorg de Louw, Monique Franssen and many more. Once bit by the BMX virus, it will never let you go. Although we could have talked for hours more, we made the decision to head back as more was on the agenda for the Saturday.
Thanks to Old Skool BMX Parts for the energy they put into this. See you next year for edition number 9.
