Godsmack Plays at First Annual Stay Strong Music Festival
Carlos n' Charlie's restaurant on Lake Travis hosted the First Annual Stay Strong Music Festival at Austin’s “Surf Sesh” The day-long event featured live music from multiple acts including The Pinch Hitters, Betaplayer,
Chris Gentry, The Beat Dolls, and Scorpion Child. Alt-metal rockers Godsmack took the headline slot and played to a large crowd of approximately 1000 fans.
Frontman
Sully Erna wasted no time getting right into the hits Godsmack is known for, including "Awake" and "I Stand Alone".
Erna, along with guitarist
Tony Rombola, played

acoustic/electric guitars but it might well have been full electric given the enthusiastic reaction of the crowd.
Sully dedicated the song “Serenity” to
Stephen Murray and insisted that the crowd keep the mosh pit for another concert, this night was for Stephen and they didn’t want any injuries. The band knew about his crash in 2007, but asked to watch Stephen’s HBO interview in their tour bus, right before going on stage. Godsmack showed a good bit of class by volunteering for the show after hearing that it was a benefit for Murray.
