From 1st - 3rd of August 2008 the German Open will take place at Berlins’ Mellowpark. It's the official German BMX championship in the categories of street, dirt, miniramp, vert and flatland riding, so everyone is expecting to see the best German pro and amateur athletes (and of course international riders are welcome too)! The German Open is not only a contest highlight of the BMX summer in 2008, it's also an important statement against what is going to happen by the end of this year:
The location Mellowpark, Europe's biggest youth- , sport and leisure time area, has to close and relocate because of new urban development in this area. The German Open will be the last big contest at this unique spot. It is an unfortunate possibility that there might not be a reopening at the end of the year.
The German Open is a grand opportunity to arouse more public interest for the uniqueness of this project and helps to ensure that the next generation is able to have their own Mellowpark. T-Mobile Local Support

is assisting the Mellowpark at each of its steps and is presenting one highlight of the German Open: The Miniramp Contest, in which pros and amateurs fight for the title of the German champion.
Furthermore, the Miniramp Contest is the official chance to qualify for the Summer Session of the T-Mobile Extreme Playgrounds which takes place at the 24th of August in Hamburg / Pinneberg. The contest is the only way to get a ticket to the final and ride against the world’s BMX miniramp elite such as
Dave Osato or
Brad Simms. Directly qualified are the three best pro riders and – thanks to the T-Mobile Wildcard – the best amateur.
Registration is only possible at the Mellowpark for the event. Additional info about the Mellowpark initiative and the German Open 2008: www.mellowpark.de
