Barcelona Movistar Extreme, a pioneering event that brings together under one umbrella the leading extreme sports and their most outstanding riders. The third edition of Movistar Barcelona Extreme will take place on July 3rd and 4th at the Parc del Forum in Barcelona and, again, will feature 200 professional riders, the best in the world of skateboarding, BMX, FMX, Inline and wakeboard. New this year to the event is the incorporation into the program of BTT (mountain bike) to be held in the spectacular form of Dirt Jump. There will be the highest level of sports competition and also an outstanding amateur participation in the presence of 400 riders that confirm the Barcelona Movistar Extreme idea of combining the elite of extreme sports with the great mass of supporters.
70.000 spectators in the first two editions Powered by the City of Barcelona, the Institut Barcelona Esports, Secretaria General de l’Esport de la Generalitat de Catalunya, organized by the Barcelona-based company Seven Marketing, Movistar Barcelona Extreme, FAN prize for the best event of 2009, was born with the will to unite under one umbrella extreme and urban sports that are increasingly taking a greater role in society. Over 70,000 spectators enjoyed the spectacle of extreme sports in the first two editions of this groundbreaking event that today is a benchmark in Europe.
Changes in the skatepark, new bikepark developed by Nike 6.0 and welcome to BTT At a sporting level in this third edition the event will feature many important developments. In addition to skateboarding, BMX, FMX, Inline and wakeboarding, sports programming was extended by BTT to be held in the form of Dirt Jump: jumps and acrobatic figures in the air in a spectacular installation of land with modules in which riders can reach two to four meters high. For its premiere, the event will feature the top 10 national riders and the top 10 international riders in a spectacular park that has 60 meter long and 15 wide.
Another novelty that is the heart of the event is the skatepark that this year will undergo a transformation with new modules and a much more urban style. Of the 11 sports facilities that will be built on the occasion for the Movistar Barcelona Extreme (totaling 15,000 square meters of sports facilities) also highlights the new bikepark which will host the BMX street contest will be the hallmark of Nike 6.0 and promises high voltage with the best international riders.
Estrella Damm Urban Sounds: Music programming with a stage for live performances In this third edition of Movistar Barcelona Extreme music wins presence with the Urban Sounds. In addition to the dj's that will soundtrack in each of the sports facilities a stage will be installed for musical performances by DJs, beatbox and urban dance.
New spaces, public facilities to practice sport and more additional activities In the news section the audience will enjoy of this year's Magazine Lounge, a space that will bring together the most recognized national and international journals of the various sports fields, music and trends to see or take home. Also for the additional activities, a 200 square meters tent will be installed with four fingerparks where there will be competition, exhibition and open to the public areas. Not forgetting the skateplaza and bikeplaza where visitors may wish to practice and perform their best tricks.
