Rain made an appearance on the third day of FISE Shanghai, forcing adjustments to the competition schedule. But between clear skies and breaks in the weather, riders and fans kept the FISE spirit alive. Here’s a recap of the day’s highlights:
UCI BMX FREESTYLE PARK WORLD CUP: WOMEN KICK OFF THE DAY
Saturday marked the start of the competition for the Women in the second round of the UCI BMX Freestyle Park World Cup. The qualification day offered impressive performances, promising a high-level final tomorrow. Leading the rankings, young Japanese rider Ozawa Miharu qualified in first place. Other finalists included regulars of major FISE finals, such as Olympians Hannah Roberts and Natalya Diehm.
For the Men, the weather disrupted the semifinal. The 24 riders who qualified yesterday will therefore compete directly in Sunday’s final phase of the competition.
UCI BMX FLATLAND WORLD CUP: JAPANESE WOMEN RIDERS DOMINATE
The Women’s finals of the UCI BMX Flatland World Cup confirmed Japanese supremacy in the discipline. Chiaki Todaka took first place thanks to precise combos and perfect technical control, followed by Carin Hommura and Sona Yoshimura.
