into a FATJAM Festival if we need to. Egon Temmermans, Kenneth Tancré and crew made it over from Belgium and Uwe Brandl represented Germany but was a lonely ranger this year. We need that old crew back next time. The A4 crew took time to drive over from The Hague where we are going the other way this weekend for the Pro Freestyle event. A surprise visit of Marcel Knaap was great. Hadn't seen him in 25 years or so.
He even brought his Ozone with Redline flight cranks, Chrome FAT Magazine sticker, Odyssey fork pegs, Shimano DX pedals and an Elina seat with a lightning bolt on it. Drool Drool for OS BMX collectors.
Jari Roggeveen made it over on his way back from his holidays, Aaron Zwaal was snapping some shots, DJ Charm was there, Flying Tinus, Mr. DIIIRRTTT!!, Pim van den Bos, Sloeri, Tilly, The Poser, Max Cleuren, Michael Schumacher, Sem Kok, and many of the (local) FATJAM regulars like Daniel Wedemeijer, Tom van den Bogaard, Dennis Keunen, Joep Pastor, Jocki de Groot, Rens Apperloo and the OJA crew. From the US of A we welcomed the King of Choq, we had the Red Bull Wing girls in Ale and two members of the Ambulance Event Service crew to keep everyone safe.
Masterchef Frits van der Linden was grilling the hotdogs and Wessel van Veijfeijken and Leroy Keunen manned the Red Bull Sound Car with tunes. Did I mention it was Paul's B-day too and the last party of the Hardcore Drinking Team?
Point is, on a day like this, things are hectic. Not because of the tight schedule, because there isn't one, but you just want to catch up with everyone while the clock keeps ticking. It resulted in flags still laying on the ground when it was time to take everything down. It caused the music to only start at 14:00hr because the electricity had not been plugged in yet.
The 'prijzenfestival' started only 30 minutes later than originally planned but no one seemed to care because everyone who rode left with at least something from our generous sponsors TSG, HARO Bikes, 100%, FATBMX, Paul's Boutique, S&M and Vans.
With everyone safe and happy after the riding session on the Sugar Hills (thanks to the crew for getting the place fixed), MOOON played a set of old and new songs. Don't be surprised when they blow up at some point. Search for them on iTunes. At this point the FATJAM Festival had started with people scattered over the field like it was Lowlands. But then a free edition of it.
After cleaning up the place it was time for the snackbar, a shower and a cold brewski (or two) at OJA, our trusty afterparty place. Let's leave it here because what happens in OJA, stays in OJA.
Thanks to all involved making the 28th edition of the FATJAM a loose and fun one. See you at the third weekend in August in 2017.
