It was the girls who got the FATJAM session going on the pump track. We had 6 of them on bikes and some of them for the first time. Pumping a full lap would get them a free TSG sticker sheet. The boys had to do two laps with different lines to score the same prizes. Now that we're at it, thanks to TSG, HARO BIKES, Eurocamp, 100% and FATBMX for donating goodies for the riders. No one left empty handed and everyone was stoked.
The session continued on the table line where we got to see 360-s, backflips, tailwhips, barspins, moto-whips and much more. Suus also made it through for the first time which got the hands together of everyone present. Chill sessions continued on the street section with Tom van den Bogaard and Steven Goertemoeller joining the session as well as David from France who was ripping. Everyone participated in the "footdown" comp which was won by Tom twice. After a small 'coffee break' the big trails were up next. Max Cleuren as well as Daan Melis and Steven Goertemoeller had a mission of making it through till the end. Max was the only one of the three to succeed but he was also limping by the time he got to the end. Madona from Brasil, and two Argentineans got the show started together with Tom van den Bogaard, Jari Roggeveen and David from France.
The level was up there with double whips over the hip, 3-downwhips, a downwhip on the step-down, alley-oop 270 on the hip no-handed, flipwhips and barspin flips on the last set and after some pushing 13 years old Jari Roggeveen flipped the last set. Unfortunately Tom had a nasty crash on the last set on his last jump (frontie) but he was in good hands with Ton Pastor & Co in town. Thanks a bunch for taking care of the professional first aid, very much appreciated.
Whoever was still able to ride at this point made it over to the Eurocamp park course for some more BMX without any pressure. The course was available and needless to say, the temperature was just right at night when the sun had gone down behind the hill. Up on top preparations were made to get the BBQ started but not before the south Americans stole the show once again with doublewhip 180-s on the step up (no freecoaster) and people getting nuts all over the park. Shoutout to Joep Pastor for learning 15 new tricks while being at Eurocamp. He was dedicated to pull that barspin on the step-up but left it for an other day.
Good times continued with the BBQ at the DUK Shop which went straight into Koen Pastor's 18th B-day.
The first international FATJAM session was a success, mainly because of the people who showed up and the location it was held. Eurocamp is a fantastic place. The park is diverse and on point. Add a beach and solid sunshine to it and you can imagine there's not much to complain about. Thanks again very much to the companies supporting smaller BMX events. We've got to build this up from ground up to make it bigger. Showing people who much fun BMX can be with not all that much effort because of everyone lending a helping hand, is what the FATJAM is all about. Team effort. Thanks.
