It was rather cold but the little ones didn't seem to have any problems with it. They started riding as soon as they saw the jumps and never stopped. Shovels were used to pack the new jumps and to get rid of the puddles. The bigger line on the outside needed some love also but there were plenty of trail builders in the house to take care of that.
It was good to see the number of young riders that showed up. A group of 30 of them didn't care about a little mud on their bikes. As soon as Paul got on the microphone, they knew it was time for free goodies. Because of all the support from the generous sponsors, it felt like Santa Claus had landed in Aarle-Rixtel. Noone went home without winning anything and in the end we saw nothing but happy faces. To keep the scene alive, it's good to have the up and comers around. It shows that there are many more years to come.
The bigger line on the outside was tested by Dimitris Araouzos, Bart Mol, Sem Kok, Dennis Keunen and a few others. Making it through the line wasn't easy. Belgians Bram de Laat, Sven Grieten, Greg van Tulder, Nico Vink and the Vans street crew of Roy van Kempen, and Kenzo de Witte didn't feel like playing in the dirt but Sem Kok had fun as usual even jumping the Killer a few times, just like Jari Roggeveen who was ripping at the Sugar Hills.
The Mini-FATJAM was wrapped up around 18:00hr because new rain was on the way and Mooon was ready to play. Things were moved to Paul's Boutique BMX shop for the CD presentation of the local band. Improvising is key. The night continued at OJA (of course) and was ended at the Harley Davidson meeting party tent. The 25th edition of the Mini FATJAM is in the books. Thanks again for everyone who helped out making people smile.
