The first Pro contest on the program at the FISE contest in Montpellier, France was the High Air competition. The crowd was ready to see some big airs on the quarterpipe. We were told that a slow-mo camera would be available to see who went the highest, but nothing was there so it was back to the long lense shots from across the course and look back on the tiny screen to see who was leading. Riders in this comp were a.o.
Greg Illingworth, Tom Isted, Tom Justice, Maxime Charveron, Dean Cueson, Daniel Wedemeijer and also
Jack Clark and
Justin Fouque threw in a few airs. € 1500,= Euros were up for grabs for the top three finishers.
The riders turning to the right had an advantage because there was no box jump in the way.
Daniel Wedmeijer was the only one turning to the right and he needed only one air to exceed the 4 meter line which ended up being the winning air.
Maxime Charveron and
Dean Cueson get really close, but dealing with the ramp on the way up to the quarterpipe killed their attempts
of beating Daniel's air. Looking back at the pictures on full size now, it's easier to see who went the highest, but still it's close. Bottom bracket was the point that the airs were measured by. The pics were taken from the same position/angle. Let the discussion begin.
