For the first time in the tour’s seven years, Flow hosted a BMX dirt contest. Due to the three stop nature of this discipline, the top three competitors earn a trip to the Finals. Seventeen-year-old Scott from Alexandria, Ohio earned the right to top the podium, earning his first trip to the Finals. He took the win with his turn down, 360 to one handed over the table.
Coming in a close second was sixteen-year-old Tommy Crail from Erie, Penn. and rounding out the podium was sixteen-year-old Adams from Hastings, Mich.
“I’m so happy to be heading to the Finals,” said Scott.
BMX park showcased some crossover talent, including champ Adams, who will be attending the Finals for both park and dirt disciplines with his third place finish in dirt earlier in the day.. Adams demonstrated his diversity in tricks and approach to the course, taking the win in park.with a cork 360 double whip, truck to whip and 540 foot jam.
Second place finisher was twenty-one-year-old Vinny Mannino of Howell, N.J., and taking third was twenty-year-old Cory Wiergowski from Detroit, Mich.
A staple contest at Rye Airfield, BMX park turned out a number of returning contestants. Taking the second place spot in 2010, nineteen-year-old Ray from Woburn, Mass. earned the trip to the Finals this year with his 360 tuck, superman seat grab, 720 barspin, 360 whip, double barspin and bar to foot jam.
Last year’s winner Josh Lane, from Portsmouth, N.H., came in a close second while twenty-year-old Seth Beaton from Templeton, Mass. rounded out the podium in third.
“Today was so fun,” said Ray. “I’m so happy to have won and to get to go to the Finals.”
With Ray, Adams, Scott and Crail podium finishes, they earn a spot to compete at the Gatorade Free Flow Tour Finals in conjunction with the Portland Invitational, August 11-14.

This past weekend, the Gatorade Free Flow Tour witnessed some of the strongest BMX competitions of the season, with a park contest at Rye Airfield in New Hampshire and a park and dirt contest in Columbus, Ohio at Flow Skatepark. Taking the win and punching their ticket to the Finals, Matt Ray topped the podium at Rye while Spencer Scott and Allen Adams took the wins in Flow’s dirt and park respectively.
