holding on to first place throughout the entire second heat. His flairs and tuck no-handers, as well a huge whip lookback, earned him the winning score of 91.00. Aussie Andrew Ahumada, 21, and Shanon Farrugia, 16, rounded out the podium in second and third place respectively. Ahumada earned a 90.15 and Farrugia earned an 89.25.
"The entire second heat I thought someone else would top me; I didn't expect to win," Payne said. "I can't wait to compete at the Dew Tour Championships in my hometown. Riding with all the dudes I look up to is going to be sweet."
With the win, Payne earns a spot to compete against the pro's at the Dew Tour Championships in Las Vegas this October at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino.
