H.I.P. Stem Provides A Simple One Step Method Of Joining A Bicycle Handlebar To Its Fork TubeSt. Petersburg, FL – April 22 2005 -- Profile Racing, Inc., the USA’s leading manufacturer of Bicycle Motocross (BMX) and Mountain Bike (MTB) components, today announced it has been awarded a patent by the United States Patent Office. The Patent Office recognized that the Hidden Internal Piston Stem (H.I.P.) represents a new and useful bicycle component that allows a bicycle rider to attach the handlebar to the fork steering tube in one-step. "Profile Racing has been an innovative bicycle industry leader since 1979. This patent continues to validate our leadership position in the industry today," said James Alley, CEO of Profile Racing, Inc.
Founded in 1998 by Steev Inge, Mutiny Bikes was about change. Our vision has always been to make high quality, innovative bikes available at reasonable prices. Mutiny was born from a love of people and a passion for BMX. We stood by our commitment to putting riders first and keeping riding fun - that spirit of freedom and change continues today as Mutiny Bikes enters a new phase of life.
For the past two years, Steev has been pushed in multiple directions, dividing his time between Mutiny and The Bridge, a not-for-profit
After years of living in Hamburg and doing Mutation clothing with Christophe Huber, Marcin Stypulkowski moved to Warsaw and started KINGKONGBMX. Read more about the reasons why and what he has planned with his new brand. What was the reason to give up on Mutation?
The reason was that Christoph and me had some differences. To continue our personal progression we had to finish Mutation so we split in good condition. I think we both needed a timeout of work to concentrate on ourselves.
We all want BMX bikes in the parks worldwide and people are working on this to make it happen. This is one for Park Owners and Councils to respond to. Please read Australia's Mike Daly's text first and then fill in the Survey. Only serious people need apply.
I think its important for BMX that we get as many official BMX friendly responses to this park survey as possible as Portland is one of the main sources of anti BMX feeling in the US (and the world!) This problem of BMX vs Skate is starting to spread, we are hearing more complaints from skaters in Australia due to the problems in the USA. If you could forward the survey form to any councils or park owners that you work with, I think it would be great to get as much positive feedback to these guys as possible.
If we can get Portland to allow BMX at all public parks, I believe that the
rest of the states in the USA will follow and we will be able to forget this
stupid BMX access problem forever, I know I have spent way too many hours of my life putting up arguments for BMX access to skateparks.
We ran into Robbie Morales at the Bike Show in England and decided to have a chat with him to see how his FIT BIKE CO is doing these days. We sat down, had a diet Coke and got the Sony IC Recorder going.
When you started your company in 2000 it came as a big surprise. You had left the T1 squad and started your own thing. Looking back 5 years later, has it worked out the way you thought it would?
Rob-O: In 2000 coming off of T1 I was really excited, basically to get more products made because that was our main problem at T1, we couldn't get our products made, and then seeing them made on a more consistent level was exciting, you know and obviously S&M has helped me with that. As the company has grown I've been able to help the

Paul's Boutique is celebrating its 10 year anniversary this upcoming weekend. We caught up with owner Paul de Jong to see how he survived:When exactly did you start Paul's Boutique BMX hardware store?
April 1st 1995 we started Paul's Boutique, Lambert van Stekelenborg (LAGEJA) and I teamed up and started a 100% PURE BMX shop, I bought him out in 2000.
What made you decide to start a BMX shop?
My shitty work as a salesmanager for roofing materials made it easy to quit my job and we couldn't buy anything in the Netherlands BMX wise so we started to import everything by ourselves and tried to sell it to the 100 riders that were left in the mid 90's.
