The AST, the umbrella brand and organization of the world’s most prestigious action sports events, begins its first international event on April 18-20 with the AST China Invitational in Beijing’s Daxing New Media District. The top professional action sports athletes from around the world-including Skateboard Vert athlete Andy Macdonald, BMX Vert Dew Cup champion Jamie Bestwick, and Skateboard Park competitor Rodolfo Ramos-will be competing at the inaugural AST China Invitational. Skateboard Vert Finals and Best Trick competition will be held on Saturday, April 12; Skateboard Park Prelims and Finals will be held on Sunday, April 13; and a fan-friendly BMX Vert exhibition will take place on both days.

The point’s leaders in the skateboard vert/ park and BMX vert disciplines were invited to the AST China Invitational based on their ranking at the end of the 2007 AST Dew Tour season.

Australia’s Krystal Cranfield’s (AUS) fell in practice today and miss her chance of racing the UCI BMX World Cup Supercross in Adelaide over the weekend. The 21 year old landed heavily in the second straight breaking her collarbone perhaps ruining her chance of making an Olympic berth. With 43 riders entered, the Australian riders not only survived practice but impressed.

“All of the guys looked good and comfortable. Kamakazi and Jamie (Gray) said they felt good out there. Jared (Graves) was doing the first straights really well. Khalen (Young) pulled it together at the end,” said Australia's BMX Head Coach, Scott Sharples. Luke (Madill) had good sections on the track and looked smooth especially in the third strait.”

The girls impressed me today as well. Nicole Callisto dominated the practice today. She was the first girl to do the first straight and Lauren (Reynolds), the junior girl, was the second.” Even though Krystal is not on our squad, I was really keen to see her ride a Supercross event.”

Damn, these things keep coming up before I know it. I'm not ready for this one but I'll give it a go anyway. You see, the whole week was busy and I haven't even started on the first quarter bookkeeping yet that needs to be finished sooner rather than later. Oh well, that's the way it goes, you give some and you get some. Last weekend already seems like a long time ago. On Friday we checked out the MX GP scene on our way to the opening of The 900 BMX and bicycle shop. Peter Geys opened up his shop and it looks great.

Oyé oyé, gentlemen, SOUL is celebrating its 10 year anniversary on the 21st of June in PARIS. We’ll "organise" a spontaneous street jam in the Bercy neighbordhood to make crazy Best and Worst tricks on the many nice spots of the place. See the poster to have the list of idiots ideas we had. There will be stuff and money to win and mostly a lot of fun to have, maybe a fine from the police too but we’ll send all the tickets to Catfish. At night we’ll do live concerts in the street as the whole city will be doing the "party of music" meaning everyone can sing and play music in the street.

Ricardo Laguna sent us some photos of his Extreme Thing Ricardo Laguna Pro BMX Dirt Challenge event that went on in Las Vegas recently. The rider line-up was incredible and so was the wind. Kevin Kopanski managed to shoot some great photos which we'll show here on FATBMX.com. Expect Ricardo Laguna to be at the FISE in Montpellier on the first weekend of May. He may bring the Las Vegas

Redline's robotic manualer DAKOTA SENGER has always dreamed of following in the footsteps of his Pro teammate Bubba Harris; but this is taking it a bit too far. While training for the Great Northwest Nationals in his homestate, Senger crashed hard during sprints and wound up busting up his ankle pretty hard. Wait -- make that VERY hard. Last year, 12 year old Dakota won the UCi World Champs in Victoria (on Cruiser), and ended the season with an ABA Nag No.1
