The final day at X Games Austin 2015 wrapped up Sunday with Bob Burnquist and Morgan Wade winning the gold medal in the debut of Skateboard/BMX Big Air Doubles. In the new event, four pairs –each with one skateboarder and one BMX rider – took a turn on the Big Air ramp. The duo with the highest combined team score won gold.

The action at X Games Austin 2015 started on a high note today, as combined teams of skateboarders and BMX riders attacked the Mega Ramp in the new Big Air Doubles event. After a heated showdown blending the best of skate and BMX aerial stunts, Monster Energy’s Tom Schaar (Skateboard) and Zack Warden (BMX) walked away with X Games Bronze medals at Circuit of The Americas (COTA). A brand-new event debuting at X Games Austin 2015, Big Air Doubles features competing teams of one skateboarder and one
Colton Satterfield made BMX history tonight by landing the first double flair on the mega ramp earning him the gold medal in BMX Big Air at X Games Austin 2015. With the win coming on his 3rd and final run, the gold is the second-straight in the event for the Monster Energy rider. One of the most popular and certainly most dangerous events at X Games, BMX Big Air sees riders hitting the massive ramp first brought to X Games in 2004 (2006 for BMX). Riders drop in on a 90-foot roll-in, clear 50-70-foot gap, then hit a massive 27-foot quarterpipe. Over the last few years riders have been pushing the limits of BMX thanks to the extra speed and airtime the ramp offers—with a stacked field of talented riders (each with their own unique tricks), tonight’s podium was anyone’s for the taking.
As the reigning Big Air gold medalist, Satterfield was the last to drop in. With the rest of the field pulling their own innovative and crazy runs, the pressure was extremely high, especially after he sketched out and failed to land his first two runs.
