How many bicycle trade shows can one go to? Well, every country has one or more so if you really wanted to you would be one busy man. The UK has always been a strong BMX market and this year at the Cycle Show BMX was well represented. With distribution firms like IMG, Seventies, Moore Large, Split Second, Scoop and Shiners showing their 2010 products it was hard to miss the shiny new bikes. Here is a selection of what we saw at the show. Damn, it looks like there was a whole lot of BMX going on...

The ABA BMX Title chases are always a battle to the line and this season is no exception. This years 2009 ABA Grands is sure to be one of the best ever, and we will see all 8 of the ABA National #1 title winners receive a Harman Kardon receiver/ JBL 5.1 home theater system. THIS IS EXCITING STUFF to say the least! The ABA National #1 Title winners have a long history, or let's call it a tradition, of winning only the best for the efforts over the years, and Harmon International - JBL Audio is no exception. As if that's not exciting enough. Harmon International - JBL Audio will also we awarding a full JBL car audio system consisting of a 5 channel amplifier, 4 JBL speakers and a JBL prefab subwoofer to both the boys and girls winners of the ever popular event, the ABA BMX N.A.G 5 Challenge. The ABA BMX N.A.G. 5 Challenge is always a race that brings bragging rights and lots of cool prizes, but this years winners will be taking home some sweet JBL Audio equipment.

Last weekend in a town of Chilliwack, B.C. Canada, the ABA held their Canadian ABA Grandnationals and crowned a new Canadian Pro King and Queen. And we here at Supercross BMX are proud to call the new Canandian ABA #1 Pro and Women Pro our own. For the ABA #1 Canadian Pro Title, Jimmy Brown came from behind, as he was not listed in the hunt for the title when the weekend started and lap by lap seemed to go faster not losing a single lap and taking the win for the weekend both days and ending up with his first Pro Title.

On the Womens Side, Supercross BMX's Kaila Sweeney was the reigning holder of the crown and went in to the Canadian ABA Grands in the lead to repeat her title and cinched the title chase by winning every lap on the Billy Allen built ABA Grands track to take the #1 Womens Pro Title home for the second year in a row.

6 years ago me and Viki got the idea for KGB-Kuoppa Gomez Bikes after both of us had some difficulties with our bike sponsors and a big desire to do someting that we could call our company. The decission of it happened in Malaga, Spain on our 2 week trip to ride together… We were just 2 of us. No one else. We put all of our savings from the competitions into the born of our new company. We went to Taiwan to talk to the biggest bike agency of the world, sat in the table with cold hearted Taiwanese business men whos been in the business since 35 years. We didn´t have any idea how to run a bike company and only experience at work/studies we just had throughout riding and traveling, that´s all. We just had a drawing of psychonnecta and sarvet on a piece of paper. That´s all we had. Then we started dealing with the business step by step day by day and all of the sudden we sold a lot of frames and bars and we gained a reputation of a company that brought something new into the market of flatland, yes, we did. Lower top tube design that made stepping over the top tube a lot easier. 

The Dew Tour, the world’s premier season-long action sports tour, begins the fifth and final stop of the 2009 season on Thursday, October 15 at Amway Arena. The Dew Tour returns to Orlando for the fifth consecutive year for the PlayStationÒ Pro. The five-city tour kicked off in Chicago in June, and continued on to Boston in July, Portland in August and Salt Lake City in September. The PlayStation Pro marks the conclusion of the 2009 season, where this year’s Dew Cup champions will be crowned at Sunday’s awards ceremony in their respective disciplines– BMX park, vert and dirt and skateboard park and vert. All eyes will be on Orlando to see who will come out on top.

In BMX park, it’s new school phenomenon, Garrett Reynolds, against old school veteran, Dave Mirra. Reynolds currently sits in first and needs a podium finish in Orlando to secure his first-ever Dew Cup. The most decorated BMX athlete of all time and with two podium finishes this Dew Tour season, second-place Mirra won’t give up without a fight.
