BMX in Belgium is not very big but it is growing, more Racers, more Freestylers and more Old School builders and this weekend it showed that Belgium is ready for the next step. Khaled showed us his "Museum" and it was worth the visit. Over 50 bikes in top condition and more to come so he is kicking ass! Bikes like Kuwahare ET's, Mongoose Roger de Coster/Motomags/Pro Class, Torkers, Skyways, SE's etc were hanging on his Wall of Fame.

Tacoma native Gary Ellis, 44, added another honor to an already impressive BMX resume in 2010 with his induction into the U.S. Bicycling Hall of Fame. “One of the neat things is that the U.S. Bicycling Hall of Fame is for all cycling sports,” said Ellis, a Tacoma-based general manager for Applied Industrial Technologies. “It’s not just a recognition from my peers in BMX.”

Ellis attended the ceremony in Davis, Calif., and said the best part was sharing the experience with his 10- and 13-year-old daughters. “When I retired, my oldest was just 1,” Ellis said. “They don’t know dad as a bicycle racer. That was real special.”

Ellis, a 1984 Puyallup High graduate, started racing when he was 11 and turned pro at 17. He was a four-time Grand National champion in both the National Bicycle League and the American

When was it that you first threw a leg over a BMX bike?
Kathy: I started racing BMX when I was 11 years old. My first race I came in third place against the boys.

Was it easy to get BMX bikes back then or did people have to start on regular bikes because it was difficult to get the original BMX bikes?
Kathy: I did have a real BMX bike... they were hard to find at the time and that was in 1977.

Did you have a local BMX club where you lived at the time?
Kathy: We had a local bike shop called "Cosmic Wheel" in

Hopefully Sinterklaas is going to show up this weekend. I asked him a slide/negative scanner so I can go through the 550 slides that my dad took in the beginning of our BMX "career". Peer Bijnen has already digitalized his pictures and made a collection of the Powder Puffs from the year 1980. The Powder Puffs were the girls in BMX.
