On 9 June individuals will turn into nationalistic bastards. Where BMX brings countries together, from 9 June countries split up again. The Dutch don't want to have anything to do with the Germans for instance. We all hope they're going to lose the opening game in their home country. Never liked Klinsmann anyway. The war will be on when the Fifa World Cup football starts. For the new poll we're listing a couple of the favorite teams that will participate at this summer's World Cup.
The Drop-out BMX hall will be the place to be for the Eastern Jam meets Jam Session. The BMX disciplines will be flatland A and B class and also street A and B. Next to that there will be a highest jump contest and a best trick competition. The date is 8 July 2006 which clashes with the Street Justice in Canada and the Slovanian race/dirt contest but if you're not living in that area and ccloser to Germany, mark this contest in your calendar for July 8th.
The Love Metal Jam was officially of the chain! The turn out was amazing and the level of riding was something I don’t think will ever be witnessed at Falmouth skatepark again. Seriously hammers where being thrown down everywhere from everyone, all the riders definitely upped their game and the photos speak for themselves.
We've known Eben for sometime now since he was riding for Inopia who we work closely with. After hanging out with Eben a lot during the filming of the Megatour 5 DVD, we decided to make him an offer to ride for Stolen as his main sponsor and he accepted.
Following the mind blowing riding that was laid down at the Backyard Jam in Brighton last year and with so many talented amateur riders out there killing themselves at every opportunity, Seventies has decided to shake things up this year. 2006 will see the birth of a series of amateur events located around the country to help extract the finest amateurs to compete in the Backyard Jam.
Mongoose rider Cam White was invited to attend the Happy Valley Park Contest in Shenzhen China during May 1 - May 5. Here's how it went down in Cam's own words: After four days of rain the contest was finally finished. It was supposed to be a four day event but due to weather conditions it was postponed and the contest was shaved down to a two run contest with no finals. There were some really good riders from Thailand and China. One of the kids had every trick possible: 720's, flairs and double whips but it sucked because he crashed in both runs. He would have won the entire contest if he hadn't crashed.
Take the Forte Brothers, Robin Fenlon, Bas Keep and Jon Taylor and put them on the ramp at a car show and this is what you get. Raya Films made a ten minute movie of it and it shows pretty much what was going on; Crazy stupid cars with stereos that are way too loud. In the clip, the BMX-ers talk shit on the Kev's but it also shows some good riding. There's no huge crowd needed to fire up the session when the riders themselves are having fun and are stepping up their riding. The decent size spined mini gets treated with flairs, huge airs, 180's, hurricanes, rollback to tailwhips, 360-s and such leaving the passers by confused on what they just saw.
I got a call this morning, from my friend Ben Hucke (we had done some BMX demos last winter in Wyoming). He let me know he was in the area and an hour later the session was on at Thrill-Zone. Lots of amazing riding went down and we all had a great time. Smooth, awesome and big were the words the Adio team used to describe the 18,000 square foot skate park. To say they liked it wouldn't do it justice, they loved it!
After doing a BMX 'zine for ten years (1987 - 1996) FATBMX made it on the internet. The year was 1998. Here to stay.
