German Benny Korthaus will be the one selling the BMX-UP magazines in the stands of the French Bookstores in the next couple of months. When you happen to walk inside a "Presse," look out for Benny doing a stretched seatgrab superman and note the white spokes. I'll just list what is inside issue 36 and then you walk to the book store and flip through the mag and when it appeals to you, you pay the € 5,90 euros and enjoy the mag on your next road trip or on that rainy day when you can't ride. There's no poster inside that you can hang up in the tour van but maybe you need to buy another mag to decorate the inside of the tour vehicle.
The mag is in French so I skipped Sofian's editorial on page 4. Belgian Hannu Cools gets the full page contents photo and on the next page we find a FATBMX logo on the Oakley/Twenty BMX Jam poster. The jam is this weekend so hurry up. News and the Franck Guerard folio is followed by the local contest in Gregam which was a qualifier for this summer's FISE contest.
Over the last few weeks my son has taken over the DVD player. He knows how to operate it and now thinks it's his. The Bambi and Peter Pan movies have made room for SX exposed, Skills and Crush. All three DVD's are fast paced MX flicks with a whole bunch of flashy graphics and loud music. Philip loves it and now knows that Ricky rides the yellow bike, Bubba rides green and his favorite Chad Reed rides the blue bike. Needless to say, Philip has a # 22 numberplate on his blue Haro Z12 and loves the home track around the couch making MX noises. When I found a moment I sneaked in Soul # 29 in his DVD player. It almost felt like I was watching slow-mo as the first couple of clips either had some slow riding in it or the editing was relaxed. What it probably was is the change from the fast paced MX movies and then watching Soul 29, making the BMX video magazine look very slow comparably. The main part of Soul is over an hour long making this DVD worth the money.
Danny Parks came a knockin' and I was already set to go on the trip to Virginia. I got to see the KONY Scion Xb. Thing is sick, they really hooked it up! Round 9 of the 2006 ABA Pro series national events was held this past weekend at the Rockford BMX track. Rockford is known as one of the smoothest and fastest tracks on the national tour and is one of the best tracks in the nation. A purse power track, Rockford showcases the riders that have been putting in the time training. Hot and humid conditions met the riders smack on at the start of the race weekend on Saturday, and Sunday was an all day rain laden race day. Both days had exciting race action from the Double A Marketing pros who were in attendance. Here is how Kyle Bennett and Randy Stumpfhauser finished up the weekend:
Kyle Bennett has become the most dominant AA Pro in the past month. Kicking things off last weekend with 2 Elite Pro wins in Evansville, Kyle backed it up with another 2 huge AA Pro wins at the Rock. On Saturday, Kyle won all 3 AA Pro main events, pulling every AA Pro in Rockford. Kyle had huge leads and his trademarked effortless looking riding style had all the pros scratching their heads.

LOS ANGELES – ESPN’s X Games announces the first wave of athletes who have been invited to compete at X Games 12, to be held in Los Angeles August 3-6, 2006. All athletes receiving invitations to compete at X Games 12 are chosen by a sport-specific selection committee. Criteria and timing of invitations varies by sport and discipline, as it is based on the state and event schedules of that particular sport. The only exception is each gold medalist from X Games 11 (2005) receives an automatic invitation to compete. Information on each committee and its sport’s invitation process can be found on each X Games sport organizer website.
Following on from the success of previous years, SNICKERS is bringing back its Best Trick competition activity at local skate and BMX events across the UK. It’s an initiative where everyone’s a winner. We will reward those that are laying down the tricks regardless of their ability. This means that the 10 year old who drops in for the first time is just as likely to get a share as the pro who is 10ft out the top of a vert ramp. Last summer, over 20 Snickers Best Tricks took place around the UK at events. This year, Snickers has a larger stash of cash to give away and is committed to making even more of these competitions happen. The Snickers Best Trick is an opportunity for riders to throw their best moves in a 30–45 minute jam session. Riders get countless attempts to try their biggest and hardest tricks within the time limit, and those that manage to pull them off to the crowd and judges’ satisfaction take home cash. Sweet! The best trick is always the most crowd pleasing and dynamic of any event: a very simple concept that enables riders to push themselves outside the normal limits of competition structure.
