When shit doesn’t flow, it doesn’t flow, which brings me to a local park around my work. It is located in Hawthorne, CA. This park is having a hard time flowing…most lines have to cross in the middle, since all obstacles are on a outside of a huge bowl, which causes riders to collapse expectedly unexpected... then again I can’t complain when there is a 15.000 sq ft park a spitting distance away…
A few weeks ago we interviewed Greg Romero here on FATBMX. Greg is one of the main men behind Revtec and they're taking things rather serious over there (not). This is funny shit:
The Revtec Pros went to Florida to race the Best In BMX NBL Spring Break Tournaments aboard the new 2005 Elite frames and let their presence be known. Being that these two races counted for the valuable UCI World Rankings, throw in that the “All Bub Associationâ€? couldn’t get the Horseheads, NY track to commit for the conflict so the Elite qualifying motos were full, Bub saw semis at a race for once, and the world got a sneak preview of what to expect for the 2008 Summer Olympic Games. Greg Romero-Elite Pro
The first weekend in Orlando was Greg’s first race back feeling 100% healed up from a car accident that has plagued him from training since
A big congratulations from everyone at FATBMX to Zach Shaw and his wife on their newborn. Here's the 411 from the proud dad himself:"Our daughter arrived at 6.47p.m on April 9th 2005 weighing 7lb 2oz in a record time of 45mins start to finish both mum and baby Meadow were back at home that night and are doing just great."
Piccy of Baby Meadow not quite 48hrs old!
Loads of BMX-ers are expecting babies in the next few months. We'll keep you updated.
Achim Kujawski simply thought it was time for a vert session with his friends. "Vert is dead" is a T-shirt made by Spin Like Hell. People say it's dead but in fact, it's not. At least it didn't look that way at the Verthaus jam in Oberhausen where 10 vert riders made it over to ride together.
Looking at the age of the riders though, most of the guys were close to, or over 30 years old. To make sure "Vert is not dead" it definitely could use some new riders.

Cheri Elliot of Citrus Heights, California was one of those girls that could even hang with the boys on the BMX track. She rode for Boss and later was a member of the Skyway factory team. She wasn't afraid to ride a quarterpipe either as you can see in this picture from the June issue of BMX Plus! magazine. Cheri was 11 years old when this photo was taken.

One-hundered-and-twenty-seven pages of BMX is what you get in this book. Good quality print and nice colour photos. It will learn you everything you need to know about getting to the BMX track and do some battle. It has sections on protection gear, riding techniques (start, jumps, turns) and the not so regulars like Nutrition, Plyometrics and Stretching.
Vert at the Bike Show is always a good event. England has a wide range of halfpipe legends and the Europeans are happy to make the move to the Bike Show contest to ride with them. The 18 meter wide RedBull ramp was put in one of the main halls (the cow sheds were too low) so they were in luck. No dust, good light, a warm hall and plenty of spectators.
The event had a couple of cash jams during the weekend, where the riders could earn some pocket money when they pulled off a good trick. The main contest took place on Saturday. With 16 riders on the ramp it was another stacked field.
Mark Theaker was the first victim of the ramp. Riding vert is rough and only destined for real men who can take a slam or two.
Why did we develop a “gender-specific frame you ask? With the advances in skill level, training, equipment and technology taking place in the sporting world, athletes are creating a demand for the tools that will enhance their performance and take them to the “next-level. It is no secret that women are built differently than men. Body mechanics, strength-to-weight ratio and center of gravity are the primary factors that separate the sexes. Data compiled from the research has been examined, tested and applied to equipment creating a whole separate market for the female athlete aiding them to perform at their highest level.
MINI FAT JAM 2005
This Mini FAT JAM was not the best ever but the weather was, we had the sun shining on the SUGARHILLS and the MINIRAMP all weekend and it was nice to recover from the Paul’s Boutique party just hanging around at the Mini FAT JAM.
The MINI MINI FAT JAM was real MINI but riders from Maarssen , Lochem, Deventer, Arnhem, Veldhoven, Vessem, Elst were there and showed their skills on our perfect ramp. Evel Rick did some high grizz airs, Riccardo tried to get his 540’s back, Kruimel was whipping it, Mr Frijters is a new kid on the block but learning fast, Pim was trying whips and coming real close, Rens did some nice footplants so there was enough to see for the locals sitting in the sun with a beer in their hands.
