After three weekends of qualifying in Oldsmar, Florida; Rock Hill, South Carolina; and Grand Junction, Colorado; the field of riders for the last chance qualifier has been narrowed down. Riders competing in the Last Chance Qualifier (LCQ) will be racing in a winner take all race for the final and eighth spot at the United States BMX Olympic Trials. The winner of the Olympic Trials will represent the United States of America at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Caroline Buchanan has been crowned the 2016 UCI BMX elite women’s time trial world champion for the second time in her career, after she beat home Dutch star Laura Smulders and reigning world champion Mariana Pajón of Colombia on the track named after the latter in Medellín, Colombia. This year’s world championships also double as the selection event for the Australian Olympic Team, today’s result sending a clear message of Buchanan’s intent to qualify for her second Olympic Games in tomorrow’s main event.
After a great season with meltable wins on the USA BMX Pro Series tour and some great results on the UCI BMX Supercross season, Joris Daudet wins the biggest race of the season (so far) at the 2016 UCI BMX World Championships. After a pair of fourth-place finishes in the Time Trial Super Final on Saturday, Alise Post (St. Cloud, Minn./Redline USA) and Nic Long (Lakeside, Calif./Haro Bikes/Dans Comp) raced to bronze medals in the Supercross Final at the UCI BMX Supercross World Championships on Sunday.
