Following the stated goals of the strategic plan to grow local membership, the NBL is launching two programs aimed at giving all member tracks better tools for track promotions and increasing membership. Effective January 1st, the NBL is introducing its Track Cash Back program which will last throughout 2010. The program will match a track’s promotional expenditures by paying $25 back for every full new member they sign up as the result of a promotional campaign. Each track must show that the funds were spent

National Bicycle League Founder, Bob Tedesco, is retiring from his position as NBL Director of Competition effective immediately. The NBL Board of Directors will leave the position vacant until after Competition Congress in early February when a new Board of Directors will be elected. On his retirement, Bob said, “The time has come for me to step down and retire as the Director of Competition of the National Bicycle League. This position I have held for many years has been both challenging and rewarding. It has been my sincere pleasure to serve the National Bicycle League in this capacity, and I truly appreciate all the support that I have always received from the Board of Directors.

I am extremely pleased with Gary Aragon’s approach and vision for the future of the NBL and my retirement will help him and the Board members prepare and review candidates for their selection after Congress. I have immense confidence and am certain that Gary will succeed in making the NBL once again “The Best in BMX”. 

The NBL Christmas Classic & President’s Cup, held at Broadbent Arena inside the Kentucky Exposition Center, brought over 1000 BMX racers to Louisville to take part in action-packed National racing. The race was the season opener for the NBL Elite Series which brought fast Pros and top amateur riders from across the country to race on the tight and fast indoor track. With visions of sugar plums still dancing in their heads, the fastest amateurs from each state unveiled their custom jerseys during the President’s

The National Bicycle League and Columbus-based TenSpeeds Production, Inc. announced today that they have executed a Letter of Intent to develop an automated registration and timing system for future NBL National and Regional events. The RFID timing system will be tested during practice for the President’s Cup and Christmas Classic on December 26th.

TenSpeeds’ 3S1 BMX Management system is a completely integrated race management system, combining registration, race management, photo finish, and results into one package.

The 3S1 BMX Management System is the first and only system to use both RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) and video to automatically track each racer and instantly give complete and accurate results.

Actual Journal Entry: Slagharen, Holland. Superclass motos: 3-5-4 Main 4th Won $100 Eric Minozzi, Christophe Leveque, Bas de Bever, and Jamie Staff in my moto! Minozzi didn’t make it out and Christophe got 5th in my semi. I’m stoked that I made the main & got fourth. 1st was Wilco Groenendaal, 2nd- Jamie Staff, 3rd- Dale Holmes, and 5th was Bas de Bever. I sold the last bit of my stuff after the races. Us Americans handed out trophies after the races. Then we went to the Bante Wever & hung out with the English crew and got pretty drunk.

Looking Back Now: Man, if you know anything about early 90’s Euro BMX, then you KNOW that was a stacked moto! And back in the day, they didn’t scramble Pro motos. So if it was hard, it was hard for all 3 motos. I guess I was riding pretty good that day to beat Minozzi out of the motos, Leveque in the semi, & Bas de Bever in the main! All that, and I earned a whopping $100. But it’s for the love, remember? And especially in the early 90’s. There was hardly any money in the
