Road trips usually look like this: 4 bikes, 4 people, 1 car and a road map. All cramped up but having no problem with it because you're having fun. Believe me, I've been on plenty of trips like these. Once I was on the back of Chris Moeller's pick up truck on the way to a race in Phoenix. Timmy Ball was co-driving and Lawan, myself and one more POW were sitting in the back with the bikes and all the bags. We left from California to Phoenix so we did not expect the strong rain that we encountered. As soon as it started dripping we were okay in the back as long as Chris kept the speed up. We stopped at BK and asked for trash bags. We made rain coats out of them and put our bags in the trash bags that we were given. We made it to Phoenix and had one more story to add to our book.
Flo Sailer sent in some information on a new Flatland series called Battle in da Club:
Idea: The idea is as simple as good and short
All in one-flatland and clubbing. The best German riders and some european and international guest stars will be invited to have a hot battle in the hippest or even biggest club of the current city. Furthermore there will be interesting side-events like breakedance-shows and much more. After the contest riders and the audience can celebrate together. Therefore dependent upon the location, famous electro, hip hop and dancehall artists will be performing.
After visiting the IBMXFF World's in Prague, some of the Etnies/T1 pros will make it to the Download festival in Donnington, England for the Snickers Soul Bowl event/Slayer concert. While on the road the T1/etnies riders will stop at Viki Park in Warrington to ride and judge the amateur comps. The contest at the Viki park will include Best trick, Best transfer and Best line. Prizes will come from Etnies and T1 and there's some cash for Best trick. Not bad for a Tuesday in the middle of June. If you can, go.
Scheduled to show up in Warrington are:
and UK team riders.
If a magazine is at number 31 it's a has shown that it can last. Dirtbiker is a magazine from the Czech Republic, home of the 2005 IBMXFF Nokia Freestyle World Championships. We'll have to wait until this event is over to see the coverage in Dirtbiker but you can be sure that they will be around. The magazine is a mixture of BMX racing, BMX freestyle and all types of MTB disciplines (no XC, Marathon or that type of riding though). The full colour magazine has BMX ads from DC, GT, Specialized, Etnies, VANS, Bell, 3120, Gotcha and Vehiclo so the support from the Czech BMX industry is there. The Duben 2005 issue is 98 pages and costs Kc55. Wait a minute, that means they don't run the Euro in Czech so you better change up some money when you go to the World's next week. The magazine is written in Czech which makes it hard to understand if you don't speak the language. It's got a big news section, an interview with cover guy Michal Pribyl and Josh Harrington, a report from some Czech riders who went to the USA, a flatland contest report, winter funbox report and a how-to of a transfer X-up to fakie. Petan TJ also gets an interview and Jamie Bestwick's GT Team bike gets tested. Pick up your copy at the World's in Prague, home base of Dirtbiker magazine.
Josh Harrington Ride BMX Cover, Team Update and Upcoming Events.
Congrats to Josh Harrington for getting the cover of Ride BMX, July 05 issue. Josh has been resting his knee up and also shooting a Vans Ad. Josh just got back from a road trip filming video parts with SCOTTY CRANMER and MIKE AITKEN. Scotty and Josh will be heading to Australia soon to film more parts. Scotty is busy riding with RYAN GUETTLER at this time. Tricks will go down this week. Ryan just got first place in dirt at the CFB in Oklahoma. He also got third in the park. Ryan was seen doing front flips on the dirt course and won best trick on park with a wall ride to flair. Next comp for Ryan is the Asian X Games in Seoul, Korea.

This BMX Action subscription ad shows some riders "getting rad". That's what it was called back in the day. With a camera around the riders pushed a bit harder to get on that HOT SHOT page. These bail photos showed up in the Subscription advertisement.
It would be cool if current publishers could still send a monthly magazine oversees for an extra $ 4,= USD. per year. Times have changed.

Over twenty years ago Mongoose came out with a set of wheels that had rims that were 17% lighter. This weight saving was accomplished by drilling holes in between the spoke holes. Saving ounces on rolling weight is extra beneficial so the idea was a good one. With single wall rims it was even possible to use different colour ribbons to match the paint job of your ride.
Check that address. It lists a TELEX number!

- Peter Geys (HARO Benelux) went back to the Ukraine and lived the life of a rock star being transported from show to show in a private jet. Peter will travel to the USA (not by private jet) to try to qualify for the Dew Action Sports Tour. With the way he has been riding lately we say he has a fair chance.
- Congratulations to Dave Mirra and his lady. They're getting married in November of this year.
