One year from now, the ‘biggest cycling event ever’ will take place in Glasgow and across Scotland (GBR). A total of 13 UCI World Championships will be combined in the 2023 UCI Cycling World Championships which will span 11 days (3-13 August). The road to the main finals at the 2022 UCI BMX Racing World Championships was long but most of the favourites made it there, ready to compete for the rainbow jerseys under the blue sky in Nantes in France.
French victory in the Women Junior class
The first UCI BMX Racing World Champion title for the day was claimed by Léa Brindjonc (FRA) as she took home the victory in the Women Junior Category, with the French flags waving her on from the grandstands. Latvia’s Veronika Monika Sturiska was runner-up and Sabina Kosarkova (CZE) finished third.

On the first day of racing at the 2022 UCI BMX Racing World Championships in Nantes, France, some important selections were made as the fastest riders from nations from all five continents competed in the qualification rounds.

In the Women Elite competition, athletes from four continents raced on the 380 metres track that has been built specifically for the event in Nantes.

BMX Racing is a major sport in France. The 2022 UCI BMX Racing World Championships being organised in Nantes, therefore, looks to be a very exciting event. More than 3,000 riders are competing in the Challenge and Master races during the week, before the world’s best Elite, U23 and Junior riders start competing for the UCI World Championship titles during the weekend. The temporary BMX Racing track in Nantes is a world-class installation. Two start ramps, measuring 5 metres (Challenge) and 8 metres (UCI BMX Racing World Championships), have been built for the occasion.
