Rio Olympic hopeful Caroline Buchanan has won the second round of the UCI BMX Supercross World Cup, her second consecutive victory for the 2016 series and third on the trot in Manchester, the win coinciding with the naming of the Australian BMX world championships team. Manchester has become a happy hunting ground for former women’s world champion Buchanan, who capitalised on a costly error from USA national champion Alise Post to deliver on race day, saying that it was tough day but pleasing to win in front of an energetic crowd,
American riders earned three podium results over the weekend at round two of the UCI BMX Supercross World Cup in Manchester. Alise Post (St. Cloud, Minn./Redline USA) won the women’s Time Trial Superfinal on Saturday and Brooke Crain (Visalia, Calif./Hara Bikes/Dans Comp) was third in the Supercross final on Sunday. Corben Sharrah (Tucson, Ariz./Dalight Cycle Co) earned silver for the USA in the men’s Time Trial Superfinal.
On Saturday, Post clocked 31.884 to take her first Time Trial Superfinal gold medal while Crain was sixth in the time trial. Then on Sunday, Post and Crain both won their semifinal rounds to advance to the main where Caroline Buchanan (AUS) took the win ahead of silver medalist Simone Christensen (DEN). Crain finished third for the bronze with Post right behind her in fourth.

Exciting racing happened in the finals at the second round of the UCI BMX SX World Cup in Manchester, England. Alise Post was leading the final until the last jump where she lost control and gave the win to Caroline Buchanan and podium spots to Simone Christensen and Brooke Crain. In the Men's final the crowd got wild when both English riders got into spot one and two coming out of the first turn. With Liam Phillips in front heading for his fourth consecutive World Cup win in Manchester the indoor BMX arena exploded as he crossed the finish line followed by Kyle Evans and first time podium finisher Renaud Blanc from Switzerland. Next round will be held in Papendal, Netherlands on 7-8 May 2016. Don't miss out on that one.
