This week the BMX world was shocked and saddened to hear that last year’s Jomo Pro winner, Josh Perry had recently been diagnosed with a brain tumor. Josh will be undergoing brain surgery this Friday at Duke University Medical Center in Durham, NC. Duke University is one of the top hospitals in the US for neurosurgery. This weekend I spoke with
Josh Perry about his experience in learning about his tumor and with
Aaron Cooke, Executive Director of the Athlete Recovery Fund. The ARF is uniquely positioned to offer assistance to all action sports athletes in medical need. Please keep Josh and his family in your thoughts and prayers this week. We all hope for a quick recovery for Josh and hope to see him back on his bike by mid-summer.
How did you discover this? Had you been having symptoms that led you to seek medical care?
JP: Well I had been getting headaches on and off for 6 months or so and never really thought anything of it. They would occur after riding or around the time I’d go to bed and I'd just sleep 'em off.
