Riding BMX doesn’t become a career for everyone but almost everyone has tried their hand at BMXing once or twice in their life. Why wouldn’t they? It’s a blast after all. Here we shine a light on some household names who have been caught in the act of BMXing when you perhaps associatethem to stuff that is a tad safer and more mainstream.
What celebs ride BMX?
Slash
You might not immediately put rock music and BMX together but Guns and Roses man Slash certainly did. At least he used to. In fact, the man himself has revealed that he was big into his BMX biking. Not only did Slash own several bikes but he did more than just use them as a mode of transport; explaining his decision to leave BMXing alone back in 2014 the musician revealed that he was too concerned that his jumps and stunts would lead to injury that would ultimately jeopardise his music career. We wish he’d carry on – and he might yet restart as he still owns his bikes – but we can understand why Slash called it a day. BMX is not for the feint hearted.
Zayn Malik
Sticking with the music industry, another star who has been spotted on his BMX is One Direction singer Zayn Malik. Malik, who found fame on British television talent show ‘The X-Factor’ back in 2010,

The Management Committee of the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) met from 2 to 4 May in Cagliari, Sardinia (Italy). Following its approval by the Management Committee, the UCI also publishes today the full calendar for the 2024 UCI BMX Racing World Cup.
The discipline's flagship series will get underway in Rotorua, New Zealand, with two rounds, on 10 and 11 February. This will be the first time that the country - which hosted the 2013 UCI BMX Racing World Championships in Auckland - will host BMX Racing’s flagship series. Built in 2019, the current track at Rotorua BMX Club - home club of London 2012 Olympic silver medallist Sarah Walker - measures 440m and was the venue for the 2023 Oceania BMX Racing Championships. Rotorua is also known for hosting mountain bike events, most notably the discipline’s UCI World Championships in 2006.
The third and fourth rounds of the series will take place in Brisbane on 24 and 25 February. This will be a first for the Queensland capital. Australia becomes a regular stopover for the UCI BMX Racing World Cup, having staged rounds in 2008 (in Adelaide, which also hosted the 2009 UCI World Championships) and again in 2020 (in Shepparton and Bathurst). The Brisbane BMX Racing track is part of the Sleeman Sports Complex, the Olympic training centre for Australian BMX Racing and track cycling specialists, as well as athletes from many other sports.
There are some cool collaboration projects being done in BMX. Yesterday's GT x Starwars bike was an example. Today we've got news from the SE x Dixxon front who teamed up to create a flannel in the SE colours:
It’s go-time for the Dixxon x SE Bikes flannel at DIXXON.com! We’ve been a fan of Dixxon for a long time & when we saw Danny Dixxon riding our bikes, we were like, “Man, we gotta do a project together!” And here we are now, dropping our second collab flannel. This time in the classic OG SE Racing colors of blue, brown, and tan. So awesome!
