Living in a van, waking up at a new skatepark every day. Sounds like a dream. Teresa Fernández-Miranda has been living this life for a while now. Time to check in with her to see what life on the road is all about.
Community & Friends
BMX is such a tight community. How often do you link up with friends on the road?
Teresa Fernández-Miranda: One of the best things about living in the van is that I can visit all my friends who are spread out across the country. They always make time to spend a few days riding and having a good time together.
Chasing Skateparks
Spain (and Europe) has some insane parks. What are some of your favorite skateparks you’ve been able to visit because you live on the road?
Teresa Fernández-Miranda: For me, the best parks in Spain are Skatepark Rubén Alcántara, Skatepark Villaverde, Skatepark de Navia, and Skatepark de Trapagaran. Those are the ones where I enjoy riding the most in Spain.

Rampfest hosted the 2026 BMX Park National Championships in Australia. Coming out on top in the Elite Women category is Sarah Nicki. We caught up with Sarah to see how her championship went.
Congratulations on the national title! What part of your winning run are you happiest with, and was there a trick that made the difference for you?
Sarah Nicki: I'm happy to have won the Elite Women Park National Championships at Rampfest last weekend. I was so happy of my whole run, especially landing my flip 1-foot X-up to can which I have never done in competition and Flair-Cancan is still a new one for me. A couple of other things I'm really happy with include my big table. That backflip 1 footed cancan was the one that made me happiest since I had not done it in a while.
Rampfest in Melbourne has a unique layout. What do you like most about riding there, and was there a specific ramp or transfer that felt like your sweet spot during the contest?
Sarah Nicki: The whole park is amazing. I love the jump line. I love the bowl. I love the quarters being a little steep, that's super nice. I love the transfer from the spine into the box, that's always fun. There's so many, I could go on and on and on what I love about that park. I've rode there since I was very little.
Australia has become one of the strongest nations in Women’s BMX Freestyle Park.

Elite Men Park Champion – Xavier Gilbee. 2026 Australian BMX Freestyle Park National Champion with a score of 95.33 points held at Rampfest, Melbourne
FATBMX: First off, congrats on taking the 2026 Australian National title with a 95.33! What trick or line in your runs were you most stoked to put down, and did everything go according to plan?
Xavier Gilbee: I was super stoked to land the 720 tail whip on the small box especially with the super seat grab Indy right before it.
FATBMX: Rampfest has become a bit of an Aussie BMX institution. What’s your take on the park in a contest setting, and was there a particular ramp or section that really suited your style?
Xavier Gilbee: Rampfest is where I grew up riding and learnt my foundation skills. Over the years it has had a few upgrades and changes however I think the current setup is one of the best parks for a competition with the box jump lines and the many transfers.

BMX Couples: Gustavo Balaloka and Eduarda Bordignon. Living, riding and traveling together. What's good about it, what's hard. The Brazilian couple answers some questions for FATBMX:
You’re both riding BMX Park at the highest level — how does training together actually work? Do you help each other with tricks, contest runs, or gym sessions?
In practice, training together comes from where everything started for us. We basically began our professional BMX careers side by side. In 2017, we left Brazil for the first time to compete abroad and went to China, to Chengdu. It was the first FISE of our lives and, right after that, our first World Championship as well. Everything happened very intensely. At the time, Duda was 17 and Gustavo was 15, so we were both underage, on our first trip alone and our first call-up to the Brazilian BMX Freestyle National Team, which was actually the first national team in the history of the sport in Brazil. So, quite literally, the first step of our careers happened together.
Before that, we barely saw each other. Duda lived in the countryside of Paraná and Gustavo lived in São Paulo, so our realities were very different. We had only met once at a random event. After that trip, we started competing more together, traveling more, training closer to each other, and that’s when a real friendship was built. Before becoming a couple, we were best friends for many years, eight years to be exact. And that still reflects in our training today: we know each other extremely well,
