The finals are something you never want to miss. And being a judge I have to say that we have the best seats in the house. There were ten guys to watch and we knew this was going to be a great event. The four judges-Dave Brumlow, Clay Brown, Christian Rigal, and myself-waited for Catfish to drop the first rider. When he did, it was on! I'm now going to give you the standouts of the ten finalists in the Nike HB BMX Pro. 10th: In the 2nd place qualifying spot,
Diogo Canina had problems in his first run and had to rely on his second. He started off with a 360 over the big wedge-to-wedge straight into a huge, craving flair from quarter to quarter. He ended his run trying to truck the box backwards and ended up in a pretty nasty crash. Diogo is a beast, though, and got up.
9th:
Marcus Tooker has been making moves in the pro class. We're seeing him in a lot of finals these days. What else would you expect with 720's over the box backwards and trucking the big box. In his second run he tried a huge 360 transfer but had to bail out of it early.

8th: Another rider that we've been seeing regularly in the finals is
Craig Mast. A 1080 gone wrong in his first run meant everything would ride on his second. In that run he pulled a perfect triple-whip over the box and a front-flip-flair on the quarter. But the coolest thing was his 360-tailwhip-to-can-can.
7th:
Allan Cooke was really fun to watch with amazing lines and flow. He was the first one to throw down a big tailwhip transfer from the big box lip to the spine/bowl quarter. His fast riding and great style got him into seventh.
6th: Known for destroying the streets,
Garrett Reynolds came out and showed the park course what was up

and gave the judges a real test to see how fast they could take notes. He does so much back-to-back stuff like a 360-no-hander over the big wedge-to-wedge straight to a 540-barspin-no-hander. Garrett is really fun to watch.
5th:
Scotty Cranmer came out swinging with a double-tailwhip-backflip, double-whipping the big box with ease, and front-flipping that monster, too. It's so good to see Scotty back to his old self. I can't wait to see more of him at the next contest.

4th: The big box jump was where
Mike Spinner started his run-he triple whipped it! Mike also triple-whipped the quarter and 1080'd the box jump. In his second run he went for a quad-whip and fell and hurt his knee. I saw him a little later and he seemed to be all right.

3rd: You will be hearing a lot more about
Andy Buckworth in the near future. He has the moves to stay in the top like double-downside-360-tailwhips, decade airs, huge front-flips over the big box jump and backflip-handplants over the spine. Andy has a great attitude and style to do great this year.
2nd: The man everyone wanted to beat ended up in second place.
Daniel Dhers' runs were packed with the hardest things you can imagine; 720-barspin, no-footed-can-can-to-tailwhips, double-whips, truckdrivers, and 720's over the big box and flip-whips. The trick of the day was his Cash Roll. It was a 180 then you do a flair over the box jump. It was c

razy! He landed on the deck but it is insane!
1st:
Ryan Guettler is on top of his game. He flowed the course and had the bag of tricks to go with it. When you start with perfect double-flips then go straight into a flair-whip you know you have a great start. Add a no-footed can-can flair, double-whips, a big tailwhip transfer, and a turndown-360 over the box backwards plus more. You can bet you have a run that will be hard to beat. Ryan earned a well deserved first.
This was an amazing event and I hope it happens again next year. I've never seen so many bikini's watching a contest before!
