"I wouldn't be who I am today if it wasn't for this place," Mike "Hucker" Clark says of Sheep Hills, a secluded, dusty BMX holy ground located about 40 miles south of Los Angeles. "People come from all around the world just to ride this one spot."
Clark grew up on these hills, both as a man and as an extreme sports athlete. In fact, it's where he was first nicknamed "Hucker" for the way he gracelessly launched himself in the air off of jumps. "I was more balls than skill," he says.
Two decades later, Clark is a full-blown pro and building a BMX legacy of his own, which includes a training facility at Oakley Headquarters in Foothill Ranch.
He'll always be "Hucker" to the people in Huntington Beach, but the kid from SoCal has certainly come a long way since his days at Sheep Hills. You can check out Clark's journey in the video above. And, be on the look out for more episodes of Complex News presents The Blueprint, our new mini-doc series that profiles some of the most talented athletes in extreme sports.
