Maybe not Flaming Hot, but the jam at the Flame Trails sure was a good little session with those who wanted to ride some dirt. The dirt spot in Brandevoort maybe isn't too impressive if you're used to massive downhill trails but it even got the street dawgs off the concrete park to give it a go, and they did well! Riding dirt is something everyone should try and the spot next to Sportpark Brandevoort is the perfect place to start. Rollers, tables, small doubles, big turns, roll-in, kids track, it's got everything one needs to give it a shot.

After some good sunshine, putting up some flags, an EZ-UP and some banners, we enjoyed a cup of coffee at the Sportpark cantine. At 1pm whoever had shown up got to ride the trails with no care in the world. Nothing on the schedule but doing laps, jumping jumps and pumping rollers. Again and again. For those who don't know, it's a damn good work-out. But no one on top forces you to do another run when you're not ready. BMX is cool like that, you make your own decisions.

When the dark clouds arrived it was time to seek shelter. The TwinAir tent covered some and others stayed dry inside the container or their car. With some music coming out of the speaker we had some tunes going and joked around long enough for the rain to stop. Honestly, the Flame Trails could use some heat at this point. When wet it's hard to even make it on top of a jump on foot. So slippery. But we had enough people around who believed that the day wasn't over just yet so with the entire crew pitching in, the slippery top layer was removed and dry sand was sprayed on top of the berms and jumps. With the sun out at this point the 'track' dried up quickly and within a matter of 30 minutes the first laps were made again.
Picking a day to go ride together was a good idea. It got riders to dust off their bikes, it got street riders to ride some dirt, it got the old crew together to fix the Flame Trails. New plans are made to go ride at this spot every Tuesday from 18:30hr - 20:00hr so mark your iPhone and make that session come back every week from now on. It's open every day, but riding together with a crew is always better. The address: Sportpark Brandevoort, Kaldersedijk, Helmond. Next to the little concrete skatepark so make sure to hit that up at the same time.
