The second episode of Red Bull Makin’ It sees Jaden Leeming and the crew venture deep into Riverside California to hit the 65th St skate park - an 8 foot concrete behemoth which boasts one of the biggest spines in California. Kris Fox (US) shows Jaden some local knowledge pulling some huge airs and impressive transfers.
As the day starts to cool off, the crew make their way to the Stay Strong compound, home to legendary BMX dirt jumper and three times gold medallist Stephen Murray.
In June 2007 at the BMX Dirt Finals at the Dew Action Sports Tour in Baltimore, Maryland, Stephen Murray aborted a double back-flip, slipping off the pedal mid rotation, flinging himself off his bike landing on his neck. The crash severely injured Stephen’s spinal cord, shattering multiple vertebrae and leaving him paralysed from his shoulders down.
Rather than reclining into depression, Stephen went on to create his own organisation and clothing company, Stay Strong, which helps other action sports athletes who have similar injuries. He also built an amazing dirt jump paradise in his back yard, where all of his friends from around the globe can come and ride and enjoy time with Stephen and his two young sons.
Jaden Leeming, fellow NZ rider Paul Langlands, Anthony Napolitan (US,) Kris Fox (US) and Nick Cooper (US) kick back with Stephen and roast the perfect jumps at Stay Strong in the afternoon light.
