FATBMX 2012 REVIEW: ROCK 'N ROLL JAM BLOEMENDAAL. The Dutch BMX scene is a good one. It seems like there are jams happening a few times each month. Nothing too major, but all kind of indoor park and dirt events take place on the regular. This time however, the BMX crew gathered at the Beach! The Rock 'n Roll jam was set for Bloemendaal and that's where we went. It takes some balls to organise something at the beach in The Netherlands. This is no SoCal, so picking a sunny day in June is like playing roulette. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose. I always say that you get what you deserve so the sun came out and Mark Vos took his shirt off, and he wasn't the only one this time.
The location was perfect. The ramps were practically set up on the beach in the front yard of a beach house. The beers started flowing early and the scene was just too good to be true. If all comps would have a set-up like this, a lot of riders would become beach bums. The ramps and riding surface weren't all too great, but the girls in bikinis made up for it.

The Rock 'n Roll jam had two classes: Amateur and Pro. Enough riders showed up to make a decent list in each group. The riding took off as soon as the decks of the quarters and jump box in the middle was cleared.
Sergio Farias 360-d the box, did some no-handers and won the AM class. The Aussies showed up again to ride in pro class and were sipping away the Heinekens early on in the day.
"Beechy" didn't seem to have a problem with it as he aired the hell out of the quarters for 5th.
Emile Bouwman got 4th,
Virgil Persad showed his sick inverts for the 3rd place check and
Jack Nierath has

got style for miles and picked up the money for place 2. First however went the
Channon Balorian from Rotterdam who switches from dirt event to park event like it's nothing. The beach sand on the ramps kinda made it a little dirty but the chill rider showed flairs, whips and flips and grabbed another first place.
Thanks to everyone involved for making this one happen. Hopefully again in 2013. Up next for the Dutch scene is Jos Wissink's "Chill 'n Grill" at Holland's oldest concrete snakerun at Het Hulsbeek near Oldenzaal.
