FISE Costa Rica started the 2012 contest season off with a bang! I think I speak on behalf of everybody at the event that we witnessed the craziest BMX contest ever. Saturday night's park finals were live in prime time on TV, and BMX history was made 3 times. Colton Satterfield landed the first ever 360 backflip tail whip, Pat Casey did a perfect double decade, and Daniel Sandoval pulled an incredible 720 double tail whip. Costa Rica was going nuts and got a ridiculous show in the first ever FISE in Latin America.
For me it felt amazing to make finals after being off my bike for 5 1/2 months with a spleen injury. The contest was packed with so many incredible riders from all around the world, and everyone rode sick. Riders like Sergio Layos, Tom Dugan, and Maxime Charveron were not able to make finals, even though they threw down great runs.
Unfortunately, the wild winds in Costa Rica were too much for the Dirt Finals to happen, a big disappointment to both the fans and the riders because the jumps looked so sick. The insanity that went down in the park finals definitely made up for it though, hopefully the FISE will come back to Costa Rica next year. I had a lot of fun filming with my Go Pro on the park course, check out how it feels to do some of my tricks:
