The last couple of days I've spent in Moscow, Russia and they've been nothing short of amazing. Alexander Furaev sent me an invitation to check out the BMX scene and experience the Russian BMX Awards firsthand. Also on the program of invited guests were Nigel Sylvester, Brian Kachinsky, Ralphy Ramos and Ryan Fudger so the crew was rather deep. After arriving on Wednesday
Alexander Sokolay showed us the red square. We got there in his Camaro which was an experience in itself. The locals, including
Nikita, were awesome from the start and during the stay we met more an more people.
The only riding that we saw was on Thursday night when we arrived at the Adrenalin Park. A jam was held with the riders that had shown up for the annual Russian BMX Awards evening on Friday. The park normally doesn't allow BMX, which is strange, but the jam happened and was on the relaxed side. The vibe was chill and on 4 different parts of the park, a 10 minute session was held.

Riders rode, Nigel and Brian checked who deserved a prize. Prices came from a couple of sponsors including Casio and DK.
On all sections of the park
Ivan Nikolaev showed some good stuff. Pedal grinds to 180-s, feeble to 360-out, that kind of stuff. I believe he picked up a prize at every section of the park and won the overall prize, a DK golf bag.
Andrey Gordeev is one of the first Russian BMX riders who is still going strong, after a couple of knee operations. He's got his own style which was different from the new school riders that mixed it up at the Adrenalin Park.
The night was fun and was ended with a bunny hop contest (1,10 meter) and
Denis Pavlov bunny hopped into a bank from the balcony which you'll possibly see a photo of in the next RIDE BMX mag.
This was a good warm up for the Russian BMX Awards. It was awesome to meet new riders and see the boys in action. BMX worldwide!
