For a change we organized a BMX Dirt contest, instead of a jam. T spice it up we called it the Open Dutch BMX Dirt championships and somehow it attracted lots of riders and a decent crowd. For the locals it was also a motivation to get the trails in shape the best way possible. It sure was a lot of work since only 2 lines remained the same and about 7 new lines were added/changed. It made for a great playground for all who like to ride dirt. To change things up we had a time schedule too and surprisingly we stuck to it pretty good. Jumps were cased during practice but the little breaks had people fix the jumps. The good thing was that the lines actually worked and no, they were not in a straight line. It was a challenge to make it through and when the comp started at 14:30hr we would see who were going to make a chance to win the Open Dutch Title. Of course the Belgians (
Sven Grieten and
Greg van Tulder) looked strong but also
Dimitris Araouzos, Dennis Keunen and
Sem Schonewille were impressive in practice.
But the group was split in two because lots of young riders had

shown up and wanted to ride. The -13 class did two runs on the three tables each and 12 year old
Pim Vervoort won this class beating
Philip de Jong (6) for second and
Dani van der Maat (12) for third. Dani later won the -13 long distance jump contest clearing a good 3 meters from a 30cm high dirt pile.

But the big tricks were shown in the big class. Three runs each and all three counted. The judges (
Rens Apperlo, Michael van der Lee, Riccardo Moes and
Mike van de Kerkhof) had a tough job giving points to those who did tricks on the first few sets and/or those who made it through the lines with style.
Stijn Hens was back and showed his skills on the new jumps for 8th. 7th went to
Luuk van Hout who later saw he had broken his handlebars. It could have gone way worse. Good thing he noticed. 6th went to
Dimitris Araouzos who was responsible for some of the new lines.

His nacnac and high stylish jumps are awesome. 5th was for
Dennis van de Elzen (16) who made it through and did some tricks along the way. 13 years old
Sem Schonewille was the crowd favourite. He cleared the biggest jumps and tricked the sets too. No-footers, nacnacs, tire grabs, tables, good for 4th place. The first podium spot was for
Bart Mol who managed to do 360 no-handers, tailwhips, turndowns, no-handers all over the place. His Premium Products team mates
Sven Grieten and
Greg van Tulder made the podium too. Greg got second and Sven “fucking” Grieten picked up his cash, a box of sponsor goodies, and Monster Energy trophy when the job was done. The €

100,= cash for the long distance jump was for Dimitris with Bart Mol giving him some tough competition.
All in all a great day of dirt riding. The different set up didn’t hurt the vibe one bit. Thanks to everyone for their help.
