Bodi Turner returned to the winner’s circle, Leanna Curtis burst through for a win in the elite women’s event and dynamic duo Saya Sakakibara and Des’Ree Barnes continued their unbeaten streak in the fourth round of the BMX Australia National Series on another typical tropical day at Cairns BMX Club.

Melinda McLeod, Saya Sakakibara and Des’Ree Barnes were the standout performers during the third round of the BMX Australia National Series on hot and steamy day at Cairns BMX Club. All three women continued their unbeaten national series streaks this season with emphatic victories in the elite women, junior elite and 14 years girl’s categories respectively.
McLeod, who was a reserve for the Australian team at the 2012 London Olympic Games, made it three wins from as many national series rounds by comfortably beating Rachelle Smith and Leanna Curtis.
Sakakibara has made no secret of her goal to win every round of the national series in her first year as a junior elite rider and if today was any indication, that dream remains firmly on track.
Meanwhile, Barnes, who like Sakakibara is the reigning world champion for her age, showed a clean pair of heals all day in her age, setting the bar for her rivals to aspire to.
